How to fix unavailable iPhone 7P Touch ID function?

After the iPhone 7 Plus is turned on, enter the password to enter the system, everything is normal. Then lock the iPhone, and use touch ID, but it's failed to work, the iPhone 7 Plus touch ID function is unavailable, how to fix it?


As we know, touch ID function very important for iPhone, it makes the iPhone safer and it's very convenient. Both software and hardware problem can cause this failure, in this article, we are going to share some software solutions.

Solution 1. Make sure the finger is clean and dry

If the finger is dusty, clutter, or liquid, it will prevent the iPhone from identifying your fingerprints, which can cause touch ID failure. When you touch the iPhone 7 Plus home button with your fingers, please make sure your finger is clean and dry, so it can make the touch ID work normally.

You can wipe your fingers with a clean cloth, make it clean and dry.

Solution 2: Make sure the iPhone home button is clean and dry

If the iPhone home button is covered by dust, clutter or liquid, then it also will prevent the iPhone from identifying your fingerprints, eventually the iPhone touch ID failed to work. Before you are using touch ID, please make sure the iPhone home button is clean and dry.

You can use Non Dust Cloth to clean up the iPhone home button, make it clean and dry.

Solution 3: Remove and Re-add fingerprints

The problem with the fingerprint itself can also cause the failure of the iPhone touch ID. We can try to fix it by removing the old fingerprint and re-add the new fingerprint.

First, unlock iPhone by entering the password, and then Go to Settings > Touch ID & Passcode > Enter the passcode of your iPhone > Scroll down to find fingerprints. Tap on the fingerprint, which you want to delete and then Tap on Delete.

Go to “Settings” > “Touch ID & Passcode” > enter the passcode, now please tap “Add a Fingerprint”, press the “Home” button using the same finger that you want to get as a new fingerprint scanner. Wait for vibration and release the finger from the Home button. Make sure to press the iPhone Home button from every angle perfectly.

Solution 4: Restart iPhone 7 Plus

If there are software errors, it may cause iPhone 7 Plus touch ID failure. For the many simple software errors, we can fix it by restarting.

In order to restart the iPhone 7 Plus, please press and hold the iPhone Power button until the Slide to Power Off command appears, drag the slider to the right to turn your iPhone off, and then press the iPhone power button again to turn on the iPhone 7 Plus.

Solution 5: update the IOS

We can try to fix it by updating IOS, because the IOS system also will cause this problem, and Apple likes to fix it by updating a new IOS.

Connect the iPhone 7 Plus to the computer via iPhone lightning cable, open the iTunes on the computer, update iTunes to the latest version, and then use iTunes to update the iPhone 7 Plus.
