The iPhone 7 accidentally fell into the ground, but the iPhone 7 still can be used normally, except the iPhone WIFI function. When try to turn on the iPhone WIFI icon, it failed. How to troubleshoot? Keep reading!
Because the iPhone fell into ground, it's probably hardware damage, but we still tried some simple software solution.
- Reset network setting
- Restart iPhone 7
- Update IOS
After tried these solutions, the WIFI function still not working on iPhone 7, next we need to disassemble the iPhone 7 to check iPhone motherboard.
Put iPhone 7 on the WL Aluminum Alloy pad, and then use phone opening tools to disassemble the iPhone, remove the iPhone motherboard.
Observe the iPhone motherboard, it looks good, no obvious signs of damage.
Because other functions works properly, but WIFI function not, so we suspect the iPhone WIFI module IC is damaged or virtual welding.
Use digital multimeter to measure the working condition of iPhone WIFI IC, the grounding resistance measured is normal, so we suspect the iPhone WIFI IC is damaged. Use Phonefix 861DW hot air rework station to heat the iPhone WIFI IC, and then use tweezers to remove it.
After remove the iPhone WIFI IC, we found the WIFI IC solder pad is missing 4 pins. Sign into the ZXW online account to check iPhone 7 schematic diagram, we know that these 4 pins are on the PCIE bus, and they pass through coupling capacitance to CPU.
Scrape the solder pad, soldering the jumper wire, and then apply the green UV oil, paint tin and weld it, now use digital multimeter to measure the grounding resistance again, the data measured is normal.
Install the iPhone 7, press the power button, after the iPhone is entered the IOS system, go to test the iPhone WIFI icon, now it can't be turned on properly, and the WIFI function is working properly. Continue to test other functions, all works well, the trouble has been solved!
